Decorative tassels are a common characteristic of hand
loomed textiles form around the world, so it's no
surprise that with the strong influences of BoHo style
on mainstream fashion the last few years that tassel
trims would become one of the hottest design elements.
Designers are using tassels in decorative elements in
more traditional contexts such as fringes on scarves,
ties at the neck of peasant blouses, and part of the
weighting elements for kimono wraps. Others are
adding gorgeous woven border trims finished with tassels
at the hems of pants, skirts, dresses, and sleeves.
Still others are pushing the concept further,
embellishing bags, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories
with tassels made of both textile threads and beads.
Some jewelry pieces consist exclusively of a tassel, or
layers of tassels built up in festive riots of color.
With so much to choose from, 2017 is definitely the
fashion season to get your tassel on!
